Derek & Georgina carry the overall leadership and vision at Kings, across all Kings campuses. They have been married for 25 years and bring a huge wealth of experience and wisdom from their years in ministry together. Born and raised in Bolton, Derek initially trained as a landscape gardener before going into training for full-time ministry, where he met Georgina.
Together they’re passionate about empowering people to be all they can be and are committed to seeing the local Church established. With a contagious enthusiasm for life and a down-to-earth gritty style, their ministry has inspired and challenged people all over the world to grow into everything God has for them. They are long-haul leaders, committed to seeing the vision God has given them become a reality.
Derek and Georgina have two grown-up children, Abigail and Oliver.
Alongside the Senior Pastors, Adam & Susie carry the key responsibility to see Kings Church established, strong and fruitful across all Kings campuses. They have been married for over 12 years and have two young girls, Imogen and Freya.
Ian & Joanne are part of our Core Leadership team, supporting the broader development of Kings Church as it grows. They have been married for 10 years, with 3 young children, Isla, Elias and Eden.
The Kings Code is the core set of ten values that determine the culture and define the direction of Kings Church. It sets the tone and the course for how Kings people will build their church.
Click on each of our values below to find out more.
We are individually on a quest to know God and grow in relationship with Him. The early church changed the world when “they devoted themselves” (Acts 2:42) – everyone, all in. Our walk with God is paramount.
We promote generosity as a lifestyle decision not a random act. We will model it, celebrate it and look for ways to go above and beyond to give sacrificially.
Isolation was never God’s design. Our destiny is wrapped up in our relationships. We are not about the one-man band; we are all about building strong lives together.
We will always look for opportunities to honour those above and around us because of the calling and potential God has placed inside of them.
We value every person because God broke the mould when He created them. Every person has unique gifts, incredible potential and can be used powerfully by God. We are deeply committed to each other’s success.
Kings is built on the shoulders of key leaders that God has anointed to lead, bring vision and direction. We will passionately defend our unity under that leadership.
We unapologetically concerned about who is in church as an empty chair is destined to be filled with a changed life. We exist to grow. We always see the one.
We have a clearly defined culture and flavour that is key to our future. We want to invite everyone to join us on this incredible adventure, but will not be held ransom by personal agendas or preference. Our expression is simple, clear and effective.
If we are going to reach our world, we can’t think small. We will never live according to our circumstances. We will always look beyond, take steps of faith and believe God for breakthrough.
What we do with today ultimately affects what happens tomorrow. There is no room for half-heartedness. We will take responsibility, always full on, and striving for the best with the resources we have.
Our story began in October 2005 with a small team and a big vision to make difference in Bolton and the surrounding areas.
Kings Church started with a band of believers that ran with a vision locked into the heart of the founding Pastors Derek & Georgina Smith.
Over the past 10 years, Kings has grown into a strong, thriving church with people from every generation and walk of life. We are now one church in three locations, with campuses in Bolton, Blackpool and Wigan, with a vision to plant further campuses over the coming years and reach many more people with the transforming message of Jesus.
WE SEE a church that is numerically large, spiritually deep and widely impacting, wholeheartedly committed to serving the purposes of God in their generation.
WE SEE a home where the lost can find a family, where broken lives are put back together and people are championed to become everything God created them to be.
WE SEE a place full of people who will do whatever it takes to reach others with the life-transforming message of Jesus, taking responsibility now for what will come next.
WE SEE a heart of relentless passion, where people refuse to live according their circumstances but always look beyond to a future full of God's promises and possibilities.
WE SEE a generation of people who refuse to stand still, but are so compelled by love, so changed by grace, so convinced of their purpose, that they sacrifice to build something far bigger than themselves.
Kings Church is an evangelical independent church. Our beliefs are taken from the Bible as a paramount source of truth and doctrine. We believe the following is foundational to victorious Christian living.

The Bible is God's inspired Word, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is fully trustworthy, authoritative and relevant to our everyday lives.
Psalm 119:89 / 2 Timothy 3:16 / 2 Peter 1:21
We believe in one God, who creates and sustains the world. He has revealed himself in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (The Trinity). Although men and women were made perfect in the beginning, they rebelled an turned away from their relationship with God. Because of this, mankind is spiritually dead, born into sin and completely unable to be in relationship with God – without the Holy Spirit giving life (regeneration).
Mark 12:29 / Matthew 28:19 / Romans 5:12-21 / Ephesians 2
Jesus Christ was the incarnation of God's eternal son. Born to a virgin, completely divine but also completely human, yet without sin. He was the only one who could reconcile us back to you God. He became our substitute and traded His perfection for our guilt (atonement). He died on a cross but rose from the dead after three days. He defeated death and was victorious over every sin, sickness and limitation. Sinful mankind can now receive, through repentance and faith, the righteousness of Jesus as a free gift (grace).
Matthew 1: 18-23 / Philippians 2:5-11/ Titus 3:5-7 / Romans 5:8-10
God is present in us by the work of the Holy Spirit. He comforts, counsels and assures us of our relationship with God. He challenges non-Christians about their sin (conviction) and brings them to Jesus in repentance. He also works to make believers holy (sanctification), empowers their discipleship and enables their witness, by giving them gifts to serve God.
John 14:16-18 / John 15:26 / 1 Corinthians 3:16
We believe in water baptism as believers, as an outward symbolic declaration of an inward personal decision to follow Jesus Christ. We believe that baptism, by full emersion in water, is an essential step to take for anyone who has chosen to live for Christ.
Matthew 28:19 / Romans 6:3-4
The Church, the body of Christ both local and global, is the hope of the world. God has individually equipped us so we can successfully build the local church, serve the community and achieve His purposes on earth.
Acts 2:42-47 / Hebrews 10:25
Mankind was created to exist forever, either eternally separated from God or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. We believe that Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.
Matthew 25:31-46 / John 3:16 / Romans 6:23
We don't have a formal membership at Kings, but we do encourage people to become active partners with us; growing in faith, serving the vision and putting down roots into healthy relationships here.
'Membership’ can sound a bit like you’re joining a social club or exclusive society. That doesn't reflect at all what we’re building or seeking to establish. In contrast we believe in the power of partnership where we all play an active part in building a powerful church and where we all take some responsibility. Together we are the church and our success is not built on the willingness of the few but the ownership of the many.
Hopefully you can grow to call Kings your home and put down your roots here. Every few months we hold a special
evening called 'I AM KINGS' for anyone new to church and looking to get connected. If you would like to register for the next one,
please contact us.
The Core is an essential night of vision, input and teaching for all those that have partnered with Kings Church and made this their home. Taking place once a term on a Wednesday evening, this event is absolutely key for our Senior Leadership Team to download vision and keep the core of the strong and focused.
Kings Church is part of a movement known as 'Synergy', a network of ministers and ministries in the UK united by a common heart and vision. Churches in Synergy are autonomous yet accountable, through healthy and open relationships. Synergy Alliance acts as a resource to local ministers and provides context for connecting with training, wisdom, encouragement and support.
Kings Church partners with Compassion International, a global ministry that partners with local churches and individuals to bring an end to children living in extreme poverty. Kings people sponsor over 120 children through this organisation, many from the same area in Kenya. Our partnership with Compassion is ever-growing and a significant part of our missions giving.
Kings Church is a missions partner with this great couple as they plant a church in Gdynia, Poland, in 2015 onwards. Alongside a great team there has been growing momentum behind planting a new expression of church in this beautiful city, bustling with students and new businesses. This is an exciting step and a great opportunity for Kings Church to have international impact in the coming years!
